Tom Shaw wants to extend Chester FC after improved campaign

TOM SHAW is “desperate” to stay at Chester after revealing that he feels like a teenager again.

Shaw will turn 31 on the first day of December, but after a tough 2015/16 campaign, the midfielder has been rejuvenated this term.

Seven goals in 32 National League appearances have made Shaw, who had worn the captain’s armband on occasions this season, a key member of Jon McCarthy’s squad.

“I have loved this season,” declared Shaw. “I feel like I let myself down last season, but it was difficult with a new born baby and travelling from Nottingham.

“This season I have felt like I am 18 or 19 again. I have a lot of energy and I am enjoying being at Chester.”

And Shaw is hoping to put pen-to-paper on a new deal for next season as soon as possible after positive talks with boss McCarthy.

“Things are pretty advanced now,” said Shaw. “I am desperate to stay and the manager has made it clear that he would like me to stay.”
