A STUDIOUS youngster at a North Wales school has been recognised nationally for gaining full marks in his chemistry A-level.

Ben Thomas, a sixth form pupil at Castell Alun High School, Hope, has been praised by education chiefs for his impressive accolade, which the Leader reported earlier this year.

Ben has been congratulated by Professor Chris Adams from the Royal Society of Chemistry, Ian Budd, Flintshire Council’s director of lifelong learning, and Jonathan Owen, chief examiner for chemistry for the Welsh Joint Education Committee.

Helen Woodhall, subject leader for chemistry at Castell Alun, said: “We are proud of Ben and thrilled for him. He’s a wonderful young man and an incredible scholar.”
