Buckley's Tivoli nightclub to appear in new ghost-hunting TV show

A HISTORIC music venue will feature in the first episode of the new series of a ghost-hunting show.

The Tivoli Club in Buckley will take centre stage in the opening programme of the new run of Most Haunted on digital channel Really.

As reported in the Leader last December, the 91-year-old former cinema opened its doors to film crews for a week-long shoot and it has now been confirmed the show will be broadcast on Thursday, June 4.

Tivoli manager Leighton Openshaw said: “Everyone is very excited, it’s not just putting the Tivoli on the map, it’s Buckley as well.

“The local community are getting involved and on June 4 we’ll be holding a special screening for 50 people before taking them on a tour of the venue.”

Legend has it that the building, which opened in 1925, is haunted by the ghost of a projectionist who died on site during a fire in the 1940s.

Since the cameras stopped rolling, special ghost hunts have been set up at the Grade II listed building.

Club staff believe during the ghost hunts, they encountered other ghoulish inhabitants at the venue, known locally as the Tiv.

Mr Openshaw added: “People from far and wide are coming in their droves to visit us.

“We’re trying to make the place more of a focal point for the whole of North Wales.

“It was a fantastic experience taking part in the filming and it’s a chance to take part in something you normally see on TV and think that could never happen to me or my building.

“We’re all very much looking forward to it being aired and let’s get Buckley back on the map.”
