A MAN escaped from his car before it went up in flames.
The incident happened on the southbound carriageway of the A483 near Rossett shortly after 4pm.
A North Wales Police spokesman said a car left the carriageway and caught fire as a result of the accident but the male driver was able to get out of the car.
No other vehicles were involved.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene and used one hose reel to extinguish the blaze, which was out by about 4.30pm.
One lane of the southbound carriageway of the A483 was closed due to the fire, near junction six, causing congestion back to the Pulford roundabout.
