A MAN has been arrested in connection with the digging up and disturbing of a badger sett.
A 25-year-old from the Liverpool area was questioned in connection with an incident which happened in April in the Holywell area.
Officers from North Wales Police’s rural crime team (RCT) executed five search warrants in the Merseyside area relating to incidents in the Flintshire area.
They were helped by Merseyside Police colleagues.
A number of items were also seized including cash and mobile phones and the man was questioned yesterday.
Sgt Rob Taylor of the RCT said: “This morning’s action demonstrates that regardless of their origins the rural crime team will relentlessly pursue suspected offenders to help achieve our goal of keeping our rural communities safe.
“Over the last 12 months we have seen a steady decrease in rural crime and with the continued support and vigilance from the local community I’m sure we can continue on that path.
“It is also worth reminding the community to remain vigilant at all times, always ensure your property is locked and secured and if you see any suspicious behaviour contact police immediately.”
Anyone with any information about rural crime has been asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
