Puppeteers in Greenfield are shadow masters

ABOUT 100 children turned puppetmasters for an afternoon when they attended a workshop at Greenfield Valley.

The children made the most of their summer holidays to make shadow puppets as part of a visit bya company from Caergwrle.

Treasure Trove Puppets helped pupils cut out silhouettes of animals and various character creations before bringing them to life on a shadow screen.

Steve Sharples, of Treasure Trove Puppets, who was joined by colleagues Andrea Daniels and Chris Wylie, said he is looking forward to returning for a similar event later in the month.

He said: “The children enjoyed making shadow puppets but it is something anyone of any age can take part in – from three to 93.

“We had a fantastic response from the children and it is great to be recognised as a Flintshire company because we take our performances all over the country.

“We are very much looking forward to visiting Greenfield Valley Heritage Park again on August 30 for another workshop.

“The children always provide us with lots of inspiration and we always enjoy working with them.”

Thursday’s event was the latest in a range of activities taking place at Greenfield Valley throughout the summer, all of which are free to attend with a season pass.

Not only will Treasure Trove Puppets be returning on August 30, but the company will also give a Halloween performance of Rumplestiltskin at Greenfield Valley during the October half-term.
