ADVENTUROUS astronauts teamed up with creatures from another world in a charity fundraising event.

Toddlers from Teddy Bear Towers in Flint, dressed up in costumes from out of this world and took on a quest to walk from their base camp to Flint Castle.

The space walk raised hundreds of pounds for the Barnardo’s children’s charity.

The children walked from the nursery to Flint Castle in a lightning-fast time of 30 minutes as part of the fundraising event, with money collected from parents, friends and relatives nearby.

Carol Matthews, nursery manager at Teddy Bear Towers, said: “We do the walk every year and we have done it for about seven years now.

“There is a different theme every year, which is chosen by Barnardos as part of a nationwide event.

“The children always enjoy dressing up – it is like a party day for them.”

About 50 toddlers from the nursery took park and each was presented with a medal and stickers for completing their mission.

Mrs Matthews said: “When we got to the castle, the children got to have a play around before we came back and they had a picnic.

“They were given space-themed colouring sheets and they made rockets in craft lessons.”

Mrs Matthews added she hoped the event would raise about £200 once all money had been collected.

She said: “The children have sponsorshoip forms and they all bring in money from parents, grandparents and people like that.”
