THE director of a church choir who claims she was unfairly sacked will take her case to tribunal later this month.
On July 16 an employment tribunal will hear the claim by Jacqui Blore, who was formerly choir director at St Giles’ Church in Wrexham.
When she was made redundant in August 2013, a number of choristers went on strike in protest and the choir now comprises members of the congregation.
Miss Blore, 47, who started working for the church in 1996, says the correct redundancy and consultation procedures were not followed and she did not receive the correct payment.
At the tribunal, to be held in Wrexham Magistrates Court, she is claiming unfair dismissal. The hearing is scheduled to last two days.
Her claims are denied by Wrexham Parochial Church Council (PCC), the respondents in the action.
At the time she left Miss Blore held three positions – director of music, administrator for the religious education centre and music project manager.
In March she received a five-figure sum from the PCC in settlement of her claim for breach of contract.
