TRIBUTES have been paid to a mother and grandmother who died in a tragic holiday accident.
Sylvia Pritchard died three days into a week-long golfing holiday in Belek, Turkey, last month.
Her husband said she hit her head while swimming in the sea off a jetty within the holiday resort where they were staying.
The 68-year-old was there with her husband John, a Vale of Llangollen Golf Club member, and friends.
The couple lived in Wrexham and moved to Oswestry 12 years ago.
Mr Pritchard said his wife of 48 years was “loved by everybody”.
“She was a funny lady, everybody loved her,” he said.
“The funeral on Thursday was the sort of day Sylvia would have loved with everybody having a good time. She had a lot of friends.
“We had a superb life.
“She loved swimming in the sea. It seems she has banged her head and it has caused a bleed.
“We were having a great time.
“When the accident happened the hotel’s response was very good, the lifeguards were there within minutes.
“We thought she had drowned but it seems she hit her head, we don’t know what went on.
“It was just horrific how quickly it happened.”
Mrs Pritchard also leaves four children, Stephen, Clare, Debbie and Helen, and six grandchildren.
A memorial golf competition is due to take place tomorrow at Henlle Golf Club, near Gobowen, where she was a former lady captain.
