NEWS a manufacturing giant is to create 50 new jobs has been heralded as “a marvellous opportunity for the area”.
Glen Dimplex, the world’s largest manufacturer of electrical heating, has announced plans to set up a new in Buckley.
The Irish company is investing in a 45,000 sq ft industrial unit at Buckley to manufacture medical and commercial refrigeration units. The move has been welcomed by community leaders, who say the new employment opportunities will be a boost.
Cllr Dennis Hutchinson, who represents the Pentrobin ward where it is believed the company will locate, said: “This is a marvellous opportunity for the area. Glen Dimplex are a blue chip company renowned worldwide.
“I welcome them to the town. We have an excellent workforce in this area and it is a great opportunity for people hoping to get employment there.”

Fellow Pentrobin ward member Cllr Mike Peers said: “This is great news. It is good a large company such as this is coming to Buckley.
“Dimplex is a household name and I am grateful a company like this is investing in the town and providing employment.”
It is believed Glen Dimplex will move into vacant premises on Drury New Road near the town’s railway station, currently owned by Whitley Estates.
Managing director Mark Abbot believes the move is placing the company “right at the heart of a manufacturing hub”.
As well as manufacturing electrical heating appliances, Glen Dimplex has interests in domestic appliances, cooling, ventilation, and renewable energy solution industries. Its annual turnover is 1.5 billion euros and the group employs 10,000 people globally.
The Welsh Government provided finance for the investment.
Welsh economy minister Edwina Hart AM said: “I am very pleased we have been able to work with the company to secure this project in Wales. It fits well with our aspirations to attract new inward investment companies, especially in the manufacturing sector which is the focus of the nearby Deeside Enterprise Zone."
