A WOMAN had to be cut from a vehicle following an early morning crash.
The collision involving a car and a lorry happened between Posthouse roundabout and Broughton Shopping Park, close to the England-Wales border, at about 7am yesterday.
The emergency services attended the scene on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 at the junction with the A483.
The woman was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with neck injuries.
One witness said the traffic was backing up a long way – adding that the car involved looked like it had been badly damaged.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 7.14am to reports of a road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 at the junction with the A483.
“A paramedic in a rapid response car and crew in an emergency ambulance attended.”
It was the North West Ambulance service who conveyed the female to hospital.
A North Wales Fire Service spokesman said one crew was on the scene for about an hour and a half.
They used cutting equipment to extract the woman from the car and also helped stabilise it.
