A MAN involved in a rooftop drama where a police cordon had to be set up has appeared in court.

Bernard Samuel Edward Wilkinson, 32, pleaded guilty to a number of offences relating to the incident, including criminal damage to the value of £7,635 at the property in Regent Street, Llangollen.

Wilkinson also admitted damaging an ambulance and affray when he appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court.

Matthew Ellis, prosecuting, said the incident happened on April 30.

Wilkinson contacted police telling them he was on the roof of the house and intending to jump, Mr Ellis said.

Officers attended the scene.

“He was throwing items on to the road below,” Mr Ellis said.

Wilkinson, of Norwood Road, Reading, was drinking from a bottle and there was a machete-type knife near to where he was standing.

“Other officers were called and a road block was set up,” said Mr Ellis.

Huw Roberts, defending, said Wilkinson was engaging with a mental health team.

The case has been adjourned to Mold Crown Court on June 19 for sentencing.
