RESIDENTS are hoping their local Royal Mail delivery office will be part of a Sunday opening trial.
The Royal Mail Group announced new Sunday services, which will allow customers at about 100 of its UK delivery offices to take advantage of seven days a week opening and all week parcel delivery services this summer.
The region hosts several busy Royal Mail hubs, including the centres at Chester sorting office and the Deeside delivery office.
Residents in Flintshire, Wrexham and Chester are keeping their fingers crossed their local delivery offices will be included in the trial.
Royal Mail bosses hope the Sunday deliveries will provide more options for people receiving items they ordered online and make it easier for shoppers not at home during the week days to get their parcels.
Delivery offices with highest parcels volumes across England, Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland will take part in the initiative.
The Royal Mail has also announced the opening of its distribution network later on a Saturday and on Sundays.
This new service became operational earlier this month. It enables larger e-retailers to hand items ordered by shoppers on a Saturday afternoon and Sunday to Royal Mail for delivery on a Monday.
The list of the delivery offices trialling the new service would be released soon.
