Restaurant chains sign up for retail park expansion

TWO popular restaurant chains look set to become part of a £13 million cinema and leisure complex.

Broughton Shopping Park could become home to American/Italian style diner Frankie & Benny’s and Mexican bar and eaterie Chiquito.

The chains have signed up to the development in the hope it will receive planning consent from Flintshire Council.

The park’s owner has exchanged legal agreements and both restaurants have taken 4,000 sq ft on 25 year leases.

Both eateries are owned by The Restaurant Group.

Colin Gilligan, Broughton Shopping Park’s manager, said: “Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito would provide venues for family and adult dining and with the cinema will help to establish the park as a leisure destination.

“We have been delighted with the response from residents on Facebook and Twitter in support of our proposals.

“After the public consultation and exhibition held at the park earlier this year, it is clear our proposals have been given an overwhelming thumbs up from shoppers, residents and workers from surrounding businesses who want a greater offer of dining facilities at the park.”

A spokesman for The Restaurant Group added: “We believe that Broughton Shopping Park with its leading high street brands and loyal shoppers is an ideal location for Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito.”

The deals follow hot on the heels of the recent letting to Cineworld for a new multiplex cinema to anchor the proposed leisure extension.

The extension, which is set to create 230 new jobs, will offer customers an
11-screen multiplex cinema and five high quality restaurants in addition to public transport and public realm improvements.

The extension will be located on an under used area of car park on the southernmost retail terrace.

New parking will be provided to replace spaces and a new public space will be created in front of the restaurant and cinema entrances.
