Wrexham failed to close the gap of leaders Newport County as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Hereford United at The Racecourse.
Newport had been beaten the previous evening by Alfreton Town but the Reds could not take advantage and remain four points behind the Exiles with a game in hand.
Hereford took the lead after eight minutes.
Dean Keates cleared a Josh O'Keefe header off the line following a corner but the Hereford midfielder put the ball back across goal and Chris Todd nodded into the net at the back post.
Wrexham upped the tempo in the second half and scored an equaliser in the 58th minute.
Dean Keates' corner hit the far post and rebounded out to Stephen Wright who found the back of the net with an overhead kick from close range.
Joe Clarke went close to giving Wrexham the lead but he struck the post with 10 minutes remaining while a diving header from Dean Keates skimmed the top of the bar.
However, Hereford made it 2-1 in the first minute of added time as Luke Graham got on the end of a free-kick and that turned out to be the winner.
