Staff reporter

A MAN in custody on a charge of raping a schoolgirl has been accused of attempting to kidnap another girl on the same day.

David Scott Edgerton, 22, of no fixed abode but formerly of Wrexham, is charged with attempting to take or carry off the girl at Leeswood Community Centre on August 22.

At Flintshire Magistrates Court at Mold yesterday he was remanded in custody and his case was sent to the crown court, where he will appear later this month.

Brian Cross, defending, did not apply for bail.

Edgerton is due to appear at Mold Crown Court in November to enter a plea to the original rape charge.

Edgerton, who previously put forward an address at Brick Street in Warrington, is alleged to have raped a girl aged 14 in woods near the village near Mold on August 22.
