BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Jean Martyn is to kick off a new series of concerts.
Jean will mark the opening of Llay Organ Society’s 2012 season tomorrow at Llay Royal British Legion at 7.15pm.
She is a good friend of the society, now in its 29th year, having performed for it many times during the last 20 years.
Jean shot to fame on the ITV talent show last year and captured the hearts of the nation through her performances and bubbly personality, making it through to the final and even winning the approval of Simon Cowell.
At this week’s concert she will play a wide range of music, including the infectious boogie woogie piano style she became known for on the TV show.
Jean has played in concert halls throughout the UK and Europe and has worked with orchestra leader James Last before finding a wider audience on TV.
She has since played to thousands of people as part of the Britain’s Got Talent tour, and recently performed for Amanda Holden and cast of Shrek the Musical as well playing at a charity event at St James's Palace where she met Dame Vera Lynn.
Her charity work was recognised last year with an invitation from the Queen to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
Doors for the Llay concert open at 6.45pm with pre-concert entertainment provided by Rhos Ladies Choir under the musical direction of Cheryl Dodd.
