ATTRACTIONS ranging from the full-scale recreation of a medieval battle to children’s games ensured the annual Glyn Ceiriog Carnival was another huge success.
The rain held off as hundreds of people flocked to the village playing field on Saturday.
Rona Bates, a member of the organising committee, said one of the most popular events was a realistic re-enactment of the medieval Battle of Crogen, which took place not far away from Glyn Ceiriog, by specialist group Cwnwd Ial.
After the blood-thirsty clash was over children were asked to produce the best drawing of the battle.
Also a big hit with the crowds were performances of Welsh dancing and the children’s sports, which ended in glory for a host of athletic youngsters.
There was also face painting and a climbing wall for young visitors.
Proceeds from the sale of the carnival programme will be donated to the scanner appeal at Chirk Hospital.
Rona added: “The carnival was a great success and the work put in by volunteers to set up the field and then clear everything away afterwards was amazing.”
