Emotional farewell to Nikola Shelley Jones

HUNDREDS gathered to say an emotional goodbye to a “fun-loving” and “bubbly” young woman.

Family and friends of Nikola Shelley Jones, 24, of Mynydd Isa, who died last week after her car collided with a bus on the B4500 at Pontfadog, near Chirk, paid their respects at her funeral yesterday.

The tearful service of thanksgiving for the life of the former Argoed High School pupil was held at St Mary’s Parish Church, Mold.

Hymns sang included All Things Bright and Beautiful and Lord of the Dance.

The family said they wished to express their “heartfelt” thanks to all relatives, friends and neighbours who had helped them in their bereavement.

Speaking after her death her father, Andrew Jones described Nikola as a happy and full-of-life girl who loved parties adding that she would be desperately missed.

Friend Tracy Platts described her as bubbly and fun-loving.

Nikola also leaves her mother Christine, brother Philip and grandather Iori.

Donations were made to the Young Person’s Cancer Trust.

An inquest into Nikola’s death has been opened and adjourned and police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have information, to contact officers at the Eastern Roads Policing or PC Aled Jackson on 101.
