A BEST-ever set of GCSE results is being celebrated at Argoed High School.
The Mynydd Isa school has put itself in the top 10 high schools across Wales in today’s (Tuesday) results, with impressive results achieved by both many pupils as it achieved a complete pass rate.
All students achieved five A* to G grades, with an impressive 84per cent celebrating five A* to C grades.
Pupils to particularly shine included Jemima Mainwaring, who achieved 10 A*s and two As, and Lauren Hill who collected nine A*s and five As.
Cathryn Jarvis obtained seven A*s and four A grades, while it was six of the best for Emma Dumbill as she chalked up six A*s and six As.
Olivia Petie achieved four A*s and six As, with Daniel Ashley Cooper collecting seven A*s and seven A grades.
Jacob Harding obtained four A*s and three A grades, Jonathan Jones achieved four A*s and 2A grades and Thomas Bonney received three A*s and five As.
Simeon Molloy, headteacher, said: “The girls’ and boys’ results were outstanding, and credit must go to all who massively overachieved this year. Our added value looks exceptional given the data we hold at this moment.
“The changes we have made, such as a more innovative learning curriculum and free focussed holiday tuition classes for all during the Easter break and summer half term, have had a big influence.
“However, the biggest effect on the results comes from the effort put in by teachers, pupils and parents alike. Ultimately, it is their hard work and determination that has earned these results.”
