Flintshire biker babe Lianne is more at home on two wheels

SELF-CONFESSED daddy’s girl Lianne Roberts has taken her passion for bikes and beauty to the next level.

The 18-year-old from Treuddyn, near Mold, raced to the title of North Wales Biker Babe 2010, outpacing fellow finalists by gaining almost half of the 1,200 votes.

And in doing so, beautician Lianne went against the cliched image of such contests.

Not only has she never been a model, but she is also genuinely interested in bikes – and plans to spend her prize money on her compulsory basic training.

Lianne, a former pupil of Castell Alun, Hope, got her first Yamaha bike at five years of age.

“I didn’t just jump on and zoom away,” she laughs. “But I’ve been interested in bikes ever since.

“It’s a great hobby. It’s so social and friendly, and you get huge freedom when you’re out there on the back of a bike.”

The Biker Babe competition was part of the Llangollen Motorbike Show. Hopefuls submitted pictures and personal profiles and the public voted to nominate five finalists.

Lianne’s looks and bubbly personality helped her to take the title, but she is as much a biker as she is a babe.

Dad Steve Parry, of Gwynfryn, said: “She’s more interested in the biking side of things. A lot of the girls just turn up and look pretty, but Lianne really is a biker.

“She’s going to spend her prize money on taking her CBT, so that tells you all you need to know!

“I know biking shows have a bit of a reputation, the audience being 99 per cent male, 30 years behind and a bit sexist, but it was a great day. Nobody was rude or disrespectful, and Lianne was in her element.”

Lianne was more than a little surprised to ride off with the £250 top prize, presented to her by former world superbike champion Carl Fogarty.

She said: “I was quite scared when I arrived, mainly because of how long all the other girls’ legs were!

“They’d all done it before, and a few of them had a lot more on show than me.”
