A WOMAN from Deeside who stamped on the head of a former friend in a pub has been fined £220 and ordered to pay compensation to her victim.

Abi Louise Hulley attacked Ashley Paige Jones in the Halfway House pub in Church Street, Connah’s Quay after she became involved in a dispute between her victim and another couple over an alleged affair, magistrates heard.

Prosecutor Rhian Jones said Ms Jones had been staying with Hulley and her mother while she was looking for more suitable accommodation, but the pair fell out because Hulley disapproved of her speaking to a man called Steve 'Pit bull' Davies.

Ms Jones moved out and was staying at the pub at the time the assault took place more than a week later.

While Mr Davies was playing pool in the pub, his partner started screaming at Ms Jones and accused her of having an affair with her boyfriend.

Hulley, who was in the pub at the time with her mother, witnessed the argument and waded in.

She tried to hit her one-time pal and pushed her to the floor. As she was pulled away she stamped on her victim’s face.

Ms Jones was left with bruising to the eye and cheek bone. There were fears she might have suffered a fracture, but an X-ray later at the Countess of Chester Hospital ruled out more serious injuries.

Brian Cross, defending, said it was not a premeditated attack and Hulley had been drinking with her mother.

He said Hulley was a friend of Mr Davies’ partner and “lost her temper as she was upset at the time”.

Hulley, 22, of Church Street, Connah’s Quay admitted assault by beating on July 21.

Magistrates' chairman Geoff Bull ordered she pay her victim £100 in compensation for her injuries.

He told Hulley: “We believe this is a one-off incident.

“Thankfully there was no fracture, but you did use a weapon, your foot, and it could have caused life-changing injuries."

Hulley was also told to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.
