A MAN who assaulted his partner and mother-in-law while their infant daughter was in their Wrexham home has been handed a two-year community order.

Marian Deuy, 30, of Rhosddu Road, had attacked partner Patrina Bobeica and her mother Ana Bobeica at their Market Street address on August 20.

When police arrived in the early hours of the following day, Deuy smacked PC Dylan Smith on the back of his hand.

Appearing at North East Wales Magistrates Court, Deuy was handed the two-year community order and told to pay £300 compensation to PC Smith.

The court heard police had received a phone call from that address on August 20 that "my husband is going crazy", but when officers arrived Deuy answered the door and said no-one had called the police.

The victim then shouted from the top of the stairs that she had called for assistance.

Ana Bobeica had blood on her face, could not speak English, but indicated she had been punched.

The baby daughter was crying hysterically in her bedroom.

Deuy tried to go upstairs but officers refused and when PC Smith gripped him, Deuy hit him on the back of the hand, causing some reddening.

Deuy was arrested and ended up spitting at PC Smith when in custody.

A probation report said Deuy had had almost a full bottle of whisky on the night of the incident, but that did not excuse his behaviour.

He was very upset and distressed about the effects of his behaviour, especially on his daughter, and he had drunk alcohol since the incident.

The mother-in-law had returned to Romania, where they were all originally from.

Deuy had no previous convictions in the UK or in Romania.

In Deuy's defence, the court heard he was working full-time for a dairy factory.

He had not seen his daughter – now aged 20 months – as she was with her mother-in-law in Romania.

In addition to paying compensation and complying with the community order, which includes 15 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement and 200 hours unpaid work, Deuy must pay £620 court costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
