PLANS have been submitted for a new housing development in a village near the border between Wrexham and Shropshire.

A total of nine new homes could be built on land off Ellesmere Lane in Penley if permission is granted by Wrexham Council.

A consultation on the proposals by a Mr P Groom was previously held and received one letter from a resident, raising concerns about the impact on schools and roads.

However, planning agents Roger Parry and Partners said it would provide affordable housing for the area.

They said: “The planning application is submitted in outline form to include for a residential development comprising of up to nine dwellings on a greenfield site.

“The indicative site plan submitted in support of the application demonstrates how nine houses can comfortably be accommodated within the site.

“The planning application, although only outline at this stage with all matters reserved comprises of seven four bedroom houses and two three bedroom bungalows, this site will also include an access road off the highway.

“The development will make a sustainable contribution to the choice of housing available within the village of Penley.

“Some of the issues raised are beyond the control of us as agents, issues such as road repairs and school capacity cannot be directly addressed at this stage but if the planning application is granted, a financial contribution would be made to local services as part of a Section 106 legal agreement.”

Wrexham Council will consider the plans at a future date.
