CLUB members enjoyed hearing about the life of a vicar and his family from America.

The Reverend Daniel Stroud was welcomed as guest speaker at the October meeting of Mold Inner Wheel club by President Lyn Jones.

Members enjoyed his illustrated address about his early life in North Carolina U.S.A and his college education which led to a career in the world of American politics.

A spokesman for the club said: "His church life had such a profound influence on his career that he was called to the ministry himself.

"After ordination he served at St. Thomas’s church Whitemarch, Pennsylvania.

"Later he and his wife Rev Lara Stroud decided to cross the pond as both felt a need to continue their ministry together in the UK.

"They were welcomed with open arms into the St. Asaph Diocese by the bishop Right Rev Gregory Cameron - Daniel to the Bro Famau group and Lara to the parish of Bagillt.

"Daniel, Lara, son Charley and new born Henry have settled down well into the way of life over here in North Wales."

Following his talk, president Lyn Jones presented Rev Daniel Stroud - vicar of five parishes in the Bro Famau Group - with a cheque for the Wellfield Charitable Trust.

Following a recent fundraising coffee morning in the Daniel Owen Centre in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society, the club would like to thank members of the public for their valued support.

The proceeds will be presented at their November meeting to a member of the society who will be their guest speaker.
