A WOMAN caught having sex with her partner in full view of passers by later went on to assault a police officer with a tampon.

She damaged a police cell by defecating in it and when she later appeared at the magistrates court at Wrexham she assaulted a Press photographer by spitting at him.

Tracy Ann Myers, 34, of Lilac Way in Wrexham, was jailed after she admitted outraging public decency, assaulting a female police officer in the execution of her duty, criminal damage to a cell, assaulting freelance photographer Andrew Price, shoplifting offences and failing to answer her bail earlier this week.

At North East Wales Magistrates Court she was told her offending was shocking and some of it was “horrific”.

Myers blamed much of her offending on her mental health state, her heroin addiction and said she and her partner had sex at a shopping park because they were homeless.

People were passing by and shouting at them so they tried to hide what they were doing by putting cardboard up, she told police.

She was jailed for a total of 24 weeks, ordered to pay total compensation of £438 with £85 costs and a £115 surcharge.

Prosecutor Matthew Ellis told the Mold court Myers and partner David Nash – who earlier this week received a suspended sentence – were caught on CCTV at 9pm on August 29 indulging in various sex acts including intercourse and oral sex.

A businesswoman saw them on CCTV at an access point at Central Arcade in Wrexham.

“She was shocked and horrified by what she saw taking place a few feet from a road and passing members of the public,” said Mr Ellis.

CCTV footage was handed to police and the defendants were identified and arrested.

Interviewed she claimed they were just rubbing each other but after being shown the footage she admitted they had sex and said people were shouting at them.

On September 8 she was subject to a strip search at Wrexham police station.

She stripped off, pulled out a sanitary towel and hurled it at officers but missed.

She then removed a tampon and threw it and it struck a female officer on the arm.

Magistrates ordered her to pay the officer £100 compensation.

On September 16 she was in a cell and she damaged it by defecating it and it cost £110 to have a specialist firm to clean up the mess.

She went on to steal coats from New Look and then on September 20 she assaulted freelance Press photographer Andrew Price outside Wrexham Magistrates Court by spitting at him. It landed on his coat near his waist.

Mr Ellis said Mr Price was a journalist carrying out his duties in recording cases of public interest and was disgusted by what she had done.

Magistrates ordered her to pay him £100 compensation.

She blamed her mental health issues and paranoia, admitted spitting and said she felt the camera was “in her face”.

Solicitor Christie Ankers-Phillips, defending, said Myers was not proud of her actions with Nash and was “quite embarrassed” by what happened.

“She says they did try to hide themselves from the public by putting up cardboard.”

Myers was sorry if people saw what they were doing and was alarmed.

Myers suffered from schizophrenia and did not have her medication in custody. She was embarrassed for damaging the cell.

But she was being assisted by the mental health services and she knew she needed help and would accept it.

The thefts occurred when she was taking heroin and it was to fund her addiction.

Ms Ankers-Phillips said there was no excuse for assaulting the police officer.

Myers knew she was wrong to have assaulted the photographer but felt intimidated and uncomfortable at the time.
