A NEW cake shop had people literally queuing up the street to sample what it had to offer at its grand opening.

Tada Cakes by Jody opened its doors on Hawarden's high street for the first time on Saturday, and people could not wait to have a taste.

Jody Owens, 32, sold all her cakes within an hour and a half of opening her new shop, which specialises in bespoke cakes, as people queued around the block to have a taste of the new cakes.

Jody Owens said: ''My love of baking has been passed down from my mum, as a child I remember her making the best birthday cakes, they were always imaginative and always made mine and my sisters birthdays special.

''My adventure started when my mum baked a cake and asked me to decorate it, little did I know that from that day on I would be baking for a living. I baked for friends and family, I started with cupcakes then built up to larger cakes the more I baked the more I was being recommended and I soon realised that this wasn't just a hobby.

''After setting up many cakes at different venues from birthdays, christening to weddings I decided to open my own shop.

''I love what I do and after all the hours I put into a cake or setting up the candy cart it's all worth while just to see someone smile because of something I have created.''
