A CANCER information and support bus, will be returning to Flintshire and Wrexham for the third visit this year.

Macmillan Cancer's bus Bronwen will be parked up at sites across Flintshire and Wrexham between Monday, September 24 and Friday, September 28, for a longer visit this time after previously helping hundreds of visitors in the area earlier this year.

The visit marks a special week, with World’s Biggest Coffee Morning being held on Friday, September 28, when the bus will be at Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre in Wrexham.

Bronwen will be parked in front of a Marks and Spencer store, who are the headline partner of World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, and will be selling a selection of limited edition Coffee Morning products - including lots of cakes, biscuits and two exclusive mugs - with 10 per cent of proceeds going to Macmillan.

Supporters of coffee morning in the area on the day are encouraged to come and say hello to the team and ask any questions they may have about cancer or Macmillan.

Bronwen’s friendly team of Macmillan information and support specialists, are a group of frontline health and social care professionals with years of experience in caring and supporting people living with cancer. It also hosts two electronic information screens, a private room for sensitive conversations and two iPads to enable people to find the information they need on the spot.

Macmillan would like to encourage anyone living nearby or simply passing by who have questions about cancer to come and say hello.

On Monday, September 24, Bronwen bus will be parked up in Broughton Shopping Park on Chester Road in Wrexham between 9am and 4pm.

The next day, Tuesday, September 25, visitors can drop into the bus in Brunswick Road car park from 8am to 3pm.

On Wednesday, September 26, the bus will be at Mold Market on Daniel Owen Square in Mold and visitors can drop in from 9am to 3pm.

On the second to last day, Thursday, September 27, Bronwen bus will be at Connah’s Quay Market on the High Street in Connah’s Quay between 9am and 3pm.

On Friday 28 September the bus will be at Eagle Meadows Shopping Centre in Wrexham from 8am to 5.30pm.

Moray Hayman, Bronwen Team Lead Cancer Information and Support Specialist said: “We encourage anyone who has been affected by cancer to come and see us, whether they’re living with cancer, have been recently diagnosed, caring for someone with cancer or worried about a loved one.

“As well as answering questions on the day, we can signpost to other cancer services in the area and provide information on a range of issues, including financial advice and wellbeing.

“Even if you don’t have a specific question to ask, our friendly team are always available for a chat.”

Richard Pugh, Head of Services for Macmillan in Wales, said: “At Macmillan, we know how a cancer diagnosis can affect everything and we’re here to support you.

“Our mobile information team travel around Wales and the rest of the UK visiting local communities, providing cancer information and advice on the ground.

“The new Welsh vehicle is smaller and lighter, and will help the team to access places Macmillan has previously not been able to get to, reaching even more people affected by cancer in the process.”
