A WOMAN who was part of a gang which burgled a Farndon home, stole a £1,400 TV and the keys to a £25,000 Mercedes which they drove off in has been jailed.

Jessica Prandle, 23, of Alam Close, Wrexham, had previously admitted theft and burglary from the offence, which happened at 3.30am on August 22, 2017.

She was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison when she appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday, September 21.

Prosecuting, Ryan Rothwell said the complainant was in his house with his family when he was woken up at 3.30am.

He went into another room to find his TV worth £1,400, his mother-in-law's purse and a mobile phone had been stolen and his car keys missing.

Having gone outside, he saw the Mercedes had been stolen too, so used an application which tracks the vehicle online, and gave the whereabouts of the vehicle's location to police when he dialled 999.

The Mercedes was relocated but the stolen items were not recovered.

In a victim statement, he said: "Since the burglary, everyday life changed irrecoverably, thinking it could happen again. We are £3,000 out of pocket – it was a truly horrible experience for all of us."

Prandle was arrested three days later, having already attempted burglaries in North Wales.

Defending, Dafydd Roberts said: "She was acting as the lookout but she accepts she is culpable.

"Her mental health was spiralling out of control, she got involved with this spree of offending. She was effectively trying to get caught – she left her mobile phone at the scene of the North Wales incident."

His Honour Judge Patrick Thompson said: "You have numerous convictions, mostly for dishonesty, some for violence."

Prandle was sentenced to two years, eight months, a sentence reduced by a fifth as she pleaded guilty after initial hearings.
