PLANS to turn a former Jehovah's Witness meeting hall into homes have been unveiled.

A planning application received by Flintshire Council requests permission to change the use of Kingdom Hall in Tuscan Way, Connah's Quay, from a non-residential institution to three apartments.

The hall, according to the plans, has been vacated but has for many years been the meeting place of Jehovah's Witnesses who - due to changing circumstances - have decided to sell the property.

A design and access statement submitted with the plans explains: "The property has been for sale since September 2017.

"One unusual feature of the existing building is that there are no windows, with there being only three door openings and some ventilation grilles punctuating three of the building's facades.

"Due to the nature of these proposals there will be minimal effect on the local economy.

"The proposals make good use of a redundant building within a highly sustainable settlement.

"It is difficult to envisage what alternative use the building could be put to bearing in mind its location and the available external space around the building."

According to the planning application each of the flats would have two bedrooms and the scheme would not entail the creation of any car parking spaces.
