THREE Wrexham men have admitted to threatening behaviour which included the use of fireworks.

The trio all pleaded guilty to the charge, with one admitting to a more serious charge of harassment, causing stress and alarm.

Gavin Glyndwr Bird, 26 of Montgomery Road, Caia Park, Stephen Cane Hughes, 19 and Danny Steven Jones, 20, both of Moorland Avenue, Caia Park, appeared in the town's Magistrates court on Monday morning, with Jones, who admitted to the more serious charge, appearing in court from custody.

The public gallery was busy and Chair of the Magistrates Jonathan Sankey warned all three defendants and those in court to support them to "pack it in" because of several exchanges being made and asked both Bird and Hughes to "sit up and at least show the court some respect".

Helen Hall, prosecuting, told the court how all three had been involved in two separate incidents in a short time frame on February 28 this year when fireworks were thrown on both Moorland Avenue and St Giles Crescent, Caia Park.

Several witnesses saw the men lighting fireworks, one of which, Stephen Jones was called a grass by defendant Danny Steven Jones and told to get back into his his house before he then made a threat to "smash your house up" and "throw a brick through your window".

Although a brick was not actually thrown through the window of Mr Jones' house, the threat made was enough to cause him alarm and distress and Ms Hall said all three men admitted to "throwing fireworks around at no-one in particular."

Bethan Jones, defending both Danny Steven Jones and Gavin Bird, and Euros Jones, defending Stephen Hughes, made no representations and the case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be completed.

These will be carried out by the Probation Service and all three men will appear at Wrexham Magistrates on Wednesday, where they will be sentenced, with both Bird and Hughes released on conditional bail and Jones remanded in custody.
