Works to tear down a Flintshire chapel have begun.

Flintshire Council previously applied to Wrexham Magistrates for an order under section 77 of the Building Act 1984 for The Old Chapel on Chester Street, which has caused weeks of disruption to those travelling in and out of the town.

In July the court granted a order with immediate effect, allowing the council access to the site to clear any content and waste from it prior to the demolition work taking place.

Clearance of the building began in August and the roof has been removed from the structure as demolition works finally get underway.

Speaking at Wrexham Magistrates Court in July Christopher Moss - representing Flintshire Council - explained that the only realistic option was to demolish the structure, which was declared to be unsafe and at imminent risk of collapse.
