CONWY Borough advanced to the next round of the Huws Gray Cup with a resounding 4-0 home win over Llanrhadedr-ym-Mochant.

The Tangerines turned in a sensational attacking display which was the catalyst behind their triumph, and Gareth Thomas’ men have been rewarded with a trip to Porthmadog at the quarter-final stage.

Boro’s immediate attention now turns to Huws Gray Alliance action, where they will look to continue their impressive start to the campaign when they host title hopefuls Rhyl on Friday (7.30pm).

Thomas, said: “It shows the strength of the squad as we made changes and the lads were excellent from start to finish.

“The togetherness is starting to show and I felt we were good value for that scoreline. It was pleasing to keep a clean sheet and we are delighted to keep up our recent good form.”

The home side finally broke the deadlock on 38 minutes after dominating the majority of the first period when Dean Seager fed striker partner Corrig McGonigle, who produced a typically composed finish to open the scoring.

After the break saw the same combination strike again for the hosts, with Seager teeing up McGonigle once again for his second of the afternoon, and the prolific striker rounded off another sensational afternoon at the office with his hat-trick from the penalty spot after he had been felled in the box with 62 gone.

The in-form home side sealed a passage to the next stage after 78 minutes when substitute Cory Williams rounded off a fine team move involving Connor Tierney and Luke Wandless to put the exclamation point on another polished display from the treble-winners.
