Three people were taken to hospital after a collision between a car and van near Chirk.

The incident took place on Sunday evening outside the Bridge Inn, Chirk Bank.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 8.32pm and sent three ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene.

An 86-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital after pains in her neck, back and chest.

A 58-year-old woman in the same car was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital after with an an ankle injury.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 42-year-old male, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to be treated for a head and leg injury.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Three people were treated at the scene of the incident – all were immobilised and given pain relief.

“The ambulance crews were assisted by the fire service to help a woman from one of the vehicles involved.

“One male had been helped out of his vehicle by bystanders. There were no more injuries for other people involved.”
