PEOPLE of all ages enjoyed a two days of slot car racing.

St Bartholomew’s Church in Old Sealand Road hosted the Scalextric weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

Church warden Jennifer Watson said the event was very well received, with about 150 people taking part.

She explained: "We were not sure how many people to expect, especially with the weather, but we had a good turnout.

"It was an event for the community to give them an opportunity to try out tracks that they might not have room for at home.

"We have five tracks out including a technical track and a Super Mario track.

"People used it for an experience to see if they would like it while some brought their own cars to take part.

"We had people of all ages taking part, from two up to 72 - and I can say that the adults had just as much fun as she children."

The weekend raised money for 'Project 200' which is a scheme to raise £250,000 for the church in order to fit a heater, toilets and a kitchen.

Mrs Watson added the scheme - which has so far raised £56,000 - aims to turn St Bartholomew's Church into a hub for the community.
