Buckley Slimmers put on their walking shoes to raise money for charity.

Consultants from Buckley Slimming World organised the event to raise awareness about the health benefits of losing weight and raised about £360 for Cancer Research.

Tracey Evans, organiser, said: “It went really well, it was a really good event.

“It was very successful, and we even had a picnic where everyone brought Slimming World food. It was lovely.

“It was nice to see everyone together and there was a real sense of community spirit. It felt like a real community event.”

About 70 people turned up to take part in the 5k, from the Hawkesbury Community Centre.

A medal was given to all those who took part by the Mayor of Buckley, David Ellis.

Tracey added: “Loads of people turned up and took part, from mums, dads and children and we even had dogs joining us too.

“We do something in Slimming World that focuses on the activity side, so we are constantly raising that awareness.”
