AN 'AGGRESSIVE bully' has been jailed for six months after headbutting his partner while their young child was in the house.

Nicholas James Raggett, 30, of Millais Close in Connah's Quay, appeared for sentence at Mold Crown Court.

He had been convicted at Wrexham Magistrates Court on July 23 of one offence of assault and a further charge of breaching a restraining order.

The assault, prosecutor Michael Whitty told the hearing, occurred the day before his Wrexham court appearance and involved him going to the home of his partner Katie Raggett in Connah's Quay and headbutting her face.

It happened while Mr and Mrs Raggett's 10-month-old child was in the house, causing Mrs Raggett swelling to her left eye and injuries to her neck and chest, the court heard.

Raggett had returned to the property to find police officers with his partner and he behaved in an aggressive manner, following which he was arrested.

The five-year restraining order he breached was made in 2014 following criminal damage at Mrs Raggett's family home, the court heard.

Jo Maxwell, defending, said Mrs Raggett had applied to have the order lifted as it had had an adverse effect on her and her family unit.

Ms Maxwell said: "There have been changes in the lifestyle of the defendant.

"There has been a passage of time and we are four years into a five year order.

"This is the first breach that has been before the court, despite there having been contact between them.

"He has been diagnosed with anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder and now attends counselling."

She added Raggett was a 'lightly convicted' man who took responsibility for his actions.

But Judge Niclas Parry refused to lift it.

Judge Parry told Raggett: "Five years ago a court found that Katie was a vulnerable person because she lived with you - an aggressive bully.

"In an attempt to protect her a restraining order was made.

"Four years on that order has been ignored when you headbutted her."

He sentenced Raggett to six months in custody to be served immediately and warned him that should be breach the restraining order on his release there would be consequences.
