A DEESIDE walking group is encouraging new people to join the thousands who take part in walking every year.

Members can choose from short walks or all-day challenging hikes around the countryside and people can sign up to become a Rambler and then take part in any walks around Britain.

The Deeside group has published its September and October activity for those wishing to take part.

The first walk will be on September 8 at 10am, Whitford and Mostyn Round (6.5miles) and another on September 23 at 10am, meeting at Llangollen tourist information centre, Castle Street (8.5miles).

Further walks will take place on September 26 at 10am at Leasowe Lighthouse and Coast, meeting at Green Lane Coastal Park with an optional pub lunch (5miles) and October 6 at 10am meeting at the Britannia Inn, Halkyn (10/7miles).

A spokesman for the Deeside Ramblers said: “All walks are graded from easy to difficult and everything in between so you know exactly what you’re in for.

“Most of the walks are at the weekends, but many are also run during the week and in the evenings, particularly in the warmer months.”

Walks will also be held on October 21 at 10am, meeting at Loggerheads Country Park (9miles) and October 24 at 10am, meeting at the Cheshire Cat, Whitchurch with an optional pub lunch (5miles).
