With a thriving music scene and a host of diverse venues and regular events, Wrexham has cemented it’s place as a top destination for watching live music.

Tŷ Pawb is the latest live music venue in town and event planners have been working with local music promotion collective, House of Lux, to bring acclaimed American singer/songwriter John Murry to the venue.

If you’re not familiar with John’s work, his career got off to a flyer with his debut record, The Graceless Age, described as the “album of a lifetime” when it was released in 2012.

The album was listed by Uncut as one of the 10 best records of 2012, while Mojo included it in their 10 best albums of 2013, The Guardian listed it in their Top 50 and American Songwriter in their Top 5 of the same year.

The extraordinary work of breathtaking scope and ambition seemed to come from nowhere and seemed to have set up John Murry as a major artist, but that early success was followed by an eventful and often tragic period in his life.

After a huge personal journey, John finally released his second full-length album in June of this year, titled, A Short History Of Decay, is an inspired and intensely personal document of an artist’s fall from grace.

The Quietus describe the new album as: “Pure Americana: music rooted in the tradition of folk, country, blues and rock, drawing on a heritage and culture familiar through nearly 100 years of film and music. It’s also the Southern Gothic novel Murry might have written had he followed his family’s path.”

Tickets are priced at £12 and can be ordered online, and with limited seating, booking is highly recommended.
