A BUSINESSMAN has said he aims to give the community of Mold what it wants, a regular auction place.

Stephen Pownall, auctioneer and director of A1 Clearances has recently launched a new auction in the town after hearing complaints of Dodds closing down.

He said: “Once I heard Dodds had closed down and people were really upset, I decided to do something myself.

“We have enough furniture to keep it going for years because of how many house clearances we do and so we are organising a fortnightly auction.”

The first auction was held over the weekend and Stephen said it was a success, with 79 people bidding online and 53 people in the room.

He added: “They were all really pleased. Mold has always had an auction and then it didn’t have one and now it has one again.

“We will soon be taking entries for other people to sell their stuff and if it’s successful we will be looking at hiring more local people, it’s all about keeping it local.”
