THE CLOSURE of a home as the result of an 'emerging problem' in Connah's Quay has been welcomed.

North Wales Police north Flintshire team confirmed on Friday that following numerous complaints of anti-social behaviour and drug use at 26 Ffordd Cae Llwyn, the force was successful in obtaining a closure order from Wrexham Magistrates Court.

This means that the property has been completely shut down and no one can live there for the next three months. The tenant is also likely to be evicted, the force stated.

A police spokesman said: "We believed this property to be a big part of the recent emerging problem at the top of Connah's Quay and we hope residents should see a dramatic improvement in the area.

"If this isn't the case we will find the next property and close that and the next."

Town councillor Ron Hill, of Connah's Quay south ward, told the Leader he welcomed the police action.

He explained: "Anything to get drugs off the streets is a good thing because we do hear a lot of concern about it in Connah's Quay.

"Older people in particular are very concerned because they are frightened of the drug use and attitude of some of these people.

"I hope this helps to reassures them - and it certainly proves that the police are doing their job."

According to the north Flintshire police team, the documents submitted to the court to facilitate the closure totalled almost 2,000 pages - prompting a call for patience as the force continues to crack down on the anti-social behaviour issues.

The police spokesman added: "Please continue to work with us and be patient. We work as quickly as we can but the process is not overnight."

Several members of the public also took to Facebook to praise the North Flintshire team for the closure of the property.
