LLANRWST turned in a battling display to come away with a narrow 27-run triumph at North Wales Cricket League Division One side Dolgellau.

A half century knock of 54 from opener Scott Thomas enabled the Rwsters to set a target of 182-9 from their allotted 50 overs, and he was aided at the other end by Alwyn Williams, who managed to make 44 before he was trapped lbw by Sam Williams.

The duo secured the majority of the runs for the visitors, with only Trefor Williams (12) and skipper Aled Hughes making it into double figures thereafter, with Mike Edmondson claiming three wickets for the loss of 37 runs.

Edmondson continued his fine form to make a fight of things with a knock of 46, in addition to a knock of 35 from home captain Gareth Lanagan, but this was not enough as the hosts made 155 all out in reply.

Alwyn Williams was the pick of the Rwster bowlers and ended with figures of 3-36, with Trefor Williams, Huw Williams and Thomas all claiming a pair of scalps apiece.

Llanrwst now occupy seventh position in the standings ahead of their trip to basement dwellers Conwy on Saturday.
