DELYN MP David Hanson has spoken of his concern that unemployment in the constituency has increased once more.
The total number of unemployed claimants in Delyn in July this year was 995. This represents a rate of 3.0 per cent of the economically active population aged 16 to 64.
The equivalent UK claimant rate was 2.8 per cent.
According to figures, the number of claimants in Delyn constituency is 260 higher than July 2017 and 20 higher than June 2018.
There were 220 claimants aged 18 to 24 in July 2018, 45 higher than July 2017.
Mr Hanson said: “It is clear that last month’s decline in unemployment was a blip and not a long-term trend.
"We have seen unemployment steadily rise in Delyn for months.
"What concerns me is that the UK Government constantly waxes lyrical about how low unemployment is, but they are not taking note of the problems they are causing in North Wales. They are leaving us behind the rest the of the country.
“Not only have we got increasing numbers of people without work, but we have a burgeoning number of people who are now on zero-hours contracts or agency work.
"This means that people have fewer rights at work, including unpaid holiday leave and restrictions on sick pay. We need decent jobs not these low paid ones."
