Firefighters were called to two deliberate car fires in Wrexham.
North Wales Fire and Rescue was called to reports of a car fire in Pont Wen, Caia Park, shortly after 5am today.
One appliance from Wrexham Fire Station was sent to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
A spokesman said: "This was a deliberate ignition. There was 100 per cent damage to the engine compartment and 50 per cent damage to the passenger compartment."
Firefighters were also called at 4.30am to a car fire in Kingstown, Maes-y-Dre.
A spokesman added: "This was also deliberate ignition. There was 20 per cent fire damage to the vehicle. One appliance was sent from Wrexham but the fire was out on arrival, therefore no equipment was used."
Police are appealing for information following the two arson attacks.
In the first incident at around 4.30am a Peugeot 207 was set alight in Kingstown and at 5.18am a black Astra van was targeted in Pont Wen.
Wrexham Town Inspector, Vic Powell said: “Setting a vehicle on fire is an extremely dangerous and reckless thing to do as well as a waste of emergency service resources. It is only a matter of luck that the fires didn’t spread and no one was hurt.
“We have a number of lines of enquiry and we haven’t ruled out a connection between the two crimes at this time.
