EMPLOYERS are already looking to fill vacancies for jobs likely to be available during the festive season.

A jobs fair will be held at Broughton Shopping Park on Saturday, September 8, between 10am and 4pm where retailers will be on hand to discuss Christmas vacancies as well as both part-time and full-time positions.

An initiative has also been launched for young people between the ages of 16-24 who are not in employment or education called ‘Wake up. Show up. Repeat’.

The three-day event is at the CAIS office in Market Square, Flint and will offer team building skills, volunteering and more.

The announcement comes as statistics show unemployment levels have reduced across Flintshire in the last five years.

A spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions said the Flintshire Employer Market is quite healthy, adding: “Our DWP Employer Partner is doing a great job liaising with local employers.

“As we approach the busy Christmas period, many of the local employers will be recruiting for additional staff so we ask that potential job seekers look out for local advertising.”

The level of unemployment has seen a 45 per cent reduction in the Flintshire area.

In Wales the number of women in work has increased by 55,000 since 2010 and general employment levels has risen to 1.47 million.
