A THEATRE is looking for new technical apprentices and is encouraging people to join the team.

Theatr Clwyd, in Mold, is on the search for two apprentices who will have the opportunity to train at one of the UK’s largest producing theatres for a career in stage, sound and lighting.

For the third year running, backstage opportunities are available at Theatr Clwyd as part of a package, including on the job training and coursework.

Apprentices will also gain a Level Three certificate in Technical Theatre awarded by Cardiff and Vale College.

The apprenticeships will begin in the autumn and promote the development of practical skills in sound, lighting and stage management.

A certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the year-long course which can be a springboard to future career development and qualifications.

The apprentices will be based at Theatr Clwyd but employed by the Wales Millennium Centre, who operate the scheme for theatres throughout Wales.

In Mold, the scheme is supported in part by Communities for Work, a voluntary programme to help get people into work.

New apprentices will spend an induction week in Cardiff and other industry standard training will be arranged through industry providers, including the Association of British Theatre Technicians.

For more information and full details of the vacancies for technical apprentices can be found online at www.theatrclwyd.com as well as information on how to apply.

Applications, which are open to anyone, are now open but will be closing on August 17.
