A RESIDENT has been left angered after being sent away three times from a recycling centre due to skips being full.

Phillip Wall, of Aston Park, Deeside, said he has seen "the incompetency of the council" following a series of trips to Sandycroft Recycling Centre where he has been turned away by workers.

He explained: "When I went to the Sandycroft site last time, the material I have always been told to be recycled I was told to put in the general waste bin as the skip was full. Every time I go there it's the same.

"There's no alternative place to put them - it was only a small amount of carpet. They told me to go to the Buckley or Greenfield centre, but I'm not wasting diesel and harming the environment even more.

"Every time I've been down there, they've told me to take it to another site or take it home."

Mr Wall said that it's "frustrating" he pays council tax, as well as the hike in garden waste collection services, but the council are unable to "properly run" a recycling centre, despite strong messages that recycling is key.

He said: "I feel that the very small items I have taken to Sandycroft should be recycled, and the issue should be dealt with."

Steve Jones, chief officer Streetscene and Transportation said: "We were not aware of any issues and all the sites are monitored to ensure that skips are available for waste disposal at all times."
