A MAN from Liverpool admitted to driving through Wrexham with alcohol in his system after getting lost on his way home.
Brian Maxwell, 31, of Wokingham Grove, Liverpool, was found to have 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, over the legal limit of 35 microgrammes, on July 26.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, told the court that at around midnight, police received reports of a suspected drunk driver on the A525 in Bangor-On-Dee.
Three hours later, police spotted the car in question swerving and driving slowly despite being the speed limit being 60mph.
Andy Holliday, defending, said Maxwell had been to Alton Towers previously that day, had a few drinks with friends and then made the decision to drive home which he recognised was a mistake.
He added that Maxwell was only driving slowly because he was lost and unsure of the area.
Chair of the Magistrate's Bench, Philip Jones, gave Maxwell a £415 fine and was disqualified from driving for 18 months.
Maxwell could see the disqualification reduced by 18 weeks by completing a drink driving course.
He was also ordered to pay a £41 surcharge and £85 in costs to the court.
