A MOTHER whose son was brutally attacked at a skatepark has opened up about their harrowing ordeal.

Louise Rodda has renewed her appeals for information after her son Tom Towell was set upon by a gang at the skatepark in Bradley, near Gwersyllt, describing it as "every mother's worst nightmare".

On the evening of July 4 the 24 year old was attacked by the large group of teenagers and young men at the skatepark, leaving him with serious facial injuries and requiring reconstructive surgery.

His mother Louise has told the Leader: "Four weeks ago today my son was viciously attacked whilst at a skatepark. Today he is having facial reconstruction surgery to repair the horrendous damage done to his beautiful face.

"It was a mother's worst nightmare that night, the call, the panic, the rush to get to him, that first sight of your child, broken and bleeding, doctors, nurses, machines, CT scans, waiting, five hours of fear in resuscitation. It's something that will never be forgotten by any of his family and he has to see the damage and feel the pain every day.

"The more witnesses and information we have from that night will strengthen our case against the thugs that thought they would get away with it.

"Police have some leads and a little CCTV. More information is needed to strengthen the case for the Crown Prosecution Service. My son is in Glan Clwyd now having facial surgery.

"There was also an enormous amount of blood so it would have been on the attackers, so maybe someone has seen that also. The attackers were not injured in any way so the blood is not theirs. It was unprovoked completely, just alcohol involved by the attackers"

The skatepark where the attack happened is next to Gwersyllt Cricket Club and Louise is encouraging anyone who was there on the night to come forward with information.

She added: "Skateboarding is his life. This attack has effected him immensely - his own skateboard was used as a weapon against him."

A North Wales Police spokesman said the attack involved a large group of teenage and adult males and a 24-year-old local man sustained serious facial injuries.
