A WOMAN has pleaded guilty to stealing over £500 worth of items from a Wrexham store.

Susan Potter, 61, of Church Road, Southsea, admitted to six counts of theft from Boots The Chemist in Eagles Meadow, Wrexham, between January 8, 2018 and May 11, 2018.

Rhian Jackson, prosecuting, told the court that during the most recent theft on May 11, staff at Boots The Chemist had become aware of Potter at 11am and monitored her on CCTV.

They witnessed her putting sunglasses to the value of £130 into her bag and leaving the store without paying.

Security staff stopped her and she later was arrested.

She admitted to stealing a total of £528.99 from the store since January 2018, with £452.99 still outstanding.

Catherine Jagger, defending, said Potter had previous good character and had no previous convictions or involvement with the police.

She added that Potter was very embarrassed by her own behaviour.

Chair of the Magistrates' Bench, Catherine Wantling, gave Potter a 12 month conditional discharge.

Potter was also ordered to pay £452.99 to Boots The Chemist, and £105 in costs to the court.
